The big news from the NHL yesterday (sorry Craig Adams) is that the Quebec Nordiques have submitted a big for an expansion team. Quebec city and, Quebecor the media corporation are ahead of the game already because the Videotron Centre will be finished in September, so if any current, struggling NHL franchises need a place, they have to be at the top of the list.

Other consideration will go to Las Vegas, who plan to finish their new arena soon, and it seems to be a race between the NHL and NBA to hit Vegas.

There’s been talk about Seattle wanting a team, but there’s not even a blueprint for an arena there, which hurts any bids.

So we wait, but at this point it appears the NHL will one day return to Quebec, no doubt with the Nordiques who left in 1995 (see Colorado Avalanche)

Then we can get back to this in Quebec.
